So students around the world have trudged
back to school over the past few weeks, and as I have suffered through those
torturous and long 13 years of schooling I thought what better to blog about
than the most important and crucial items to pack in your school bag.
I went to an all girls private school and
it became apparent that the style of your hair was crucial. Now, this wore out
in senior years (for most) however as a junior, especially in year 10 your hair
was a clear indication of your social status. Being the completely and utterly
clueless 14 year old I was, my hair would form into in a weird looking
ponytail or bun and would become a complete mess after sport.
So I quickly became a little wiser (or so I
hope) and soon started to pack my little hair essentials. This would include a
little plastic box or bag with a few bobby pins some hair elastics. This was
always amazing to have handy after sport or if you are just having a bad hair
day.
I am no longer at school as you may know
but looking back now I wish I had brought with me some dry shampoo to freshen
up after sport or some flexible hair spray to calm down any frizz. I am
currently using and loving Tony&Guy’s Flexible Hold Spray, it has amazing hold without making you look like a ballerina.
It is always quite nice to pack a little
perfume in your bag, and for me this was an essential. You’re at school for
long hours and with activities such as sport, cooking and woodwork, and you do
not want to smell! I would often chuck into my bag a mini Impulse aerosol can
or some perfume samples just to give a quick spray in the middle of the day to
freshen up. I recently got a mini perfume bottle of Marc Jacobs ‘Honey’, which
could also be an option and is quite cute to keep in your locker.
My two utmost essentials, which I would
bring to school every single day were always a deodorant and a little
lip-gloss. Perfumed sprays will only get you so far, so it is beyond important
to pack a little deodorant (spray or roll on) just to keep yourself staying
clean and fresh.
If you have read my Daily Makeup Favourites you will know that I can’t leave the house without lip-gloss and
school was no different.
My school was very strict with make-up
regulations (as are many), so most people would wear very minimal makeup. I
will recommend packing a few little make up essentials to get you through the
day especially if its hot. I wouldn’t normally apply make-up throughout school
as I never found the need but if I had just finished sport or was heading out
after school, then I may have put on a little bit of concealer and powder. I
would also put a very subtle colour on my nails either clear or a light pink
just to keep my nails looking pretty.

It is beyond important to pack a healthy
lunch to keep you going throughout the day. I usually opted for salads and
fruit (as I’m not the biggest fan of sandwiches) however at times I would need
a sugar fix. In my final year of school myself and a friend shared 2 lockers
(one above the other) and we would always have a little sugar stash to keep us
going.
These cute little jars are from The Reject
Shop for about $1 and are so handy for storage, especially sweets! However if
you are going to do this make sure any food is wrapped, you don’t want ants or other creepy crawlings nesting in your books.
All these things make the school day a lot
easier, however my most important tip for going back to school is staying
organised a pencil case can help with this. I also really recommend getting yourself a diary (most schools give them out. If
not places such as Kikki K and Typo sell really cute ones)
Organisation is key not just for "shaping your organisation skills for the future" but it seriously
reduces stress. In my final year when assessments began to pile up and the HSC
loomed closer keeping organised with timetables and my diary kept me from
becoming completely insane!
I hoped you enjoyed this post and it helped
in one way or another, whether you’re going to school, college, university or
even into the work force.
